* MY MUSIC *

A quick biog
In 1990 I found myself was working in a factory storeroom and for 2 years I constantly played Ska and various other genres to the annoyance of the 'workforce'. If ever my life changed drastically and the opportunity came along I had decided to get into 'pub entertainment' with the music you would 'never' hear in your local! My evening job at the time was get in/get outs /barrier security at the BIC and 'then' Poole Arts centre for 150+ gigs.

I worked in London 95 -98 and that 'drastic' change came in the form of an indirect break of the femur, a year on crutches 'to start' and the end of my motorcycling days and a good career at the time.

After 'the depression' had subsided I got of my arse and practiced like mad upstairs of my local pub of the day with a borrowed PA. I had an opening night 4 months later 20th Nov 1999. It's fine saying I wanted to play the music in the pubs but after knocking another 'crap day job' on the head and playing ' full-time' two years later where could I go? I played 9 talent shows getting to the final of each one which was a great experience for 'learning' the ropes. Learnt to play the 'valved' trumpet, frontman for local
Ska band Rat Race for it's first year also tried my hand at DJ'ing for the first time.

A very fledgling Mr Kyps 'live music venue' sparked an interest into getting inolved in 'promoting' the music after being asked for idea's: Bad Manners in 03. This quickly followed by Jumpin Jaks Bournemouth wanting a piece so I gave them more idea's for 'our' first Ska/Reggae night in the form of the late and great Desmond Dekker RIP. Quickly followed by The Beat and Neville Staple (whose advertising unfort led to people thinking The Specials were reforming'not' my idea) first appearances in Bournemouth in 2003. Since then I was hit by the 'Promoting' bug and have done my best to be innovative with nights introducing/re-introducing some great bands in Mr Kyps, Railway Social Club 'solo promo gigs', The Opera House, Jumpin Jaks, Landmark : Jimmy Cliff, Prince Buster, Toots and The Maytals, Small Axe, Ultimate Madness, Heroes, Orange Street, 2 Tonic, The Clashed, Too Hot, El Paso De Cebra, Four O, Sex Pistols Experience, Demonic Upchucks, Diablos, The Big, UK Subs, Self Abuse, Virus, The Jamm, High Watts, Union, Hope and Glory, The Toretz, 20 Dead Camels, Bang Bang Lu Lu, Skaville UK, Rat Race, The Hi Watts, Django.

Currently Organising SOUL ON THE SEA End Of Bournemouth Pier

What I play

All tracks below are 'play back' music or 'backing tracks' years of finding the best tracks on the market (only real instruments, no Midi). This era of music is all about having 'fun' a dance and a laugh no more no less. My aim is to play and sing to an audience giving 100% remembering the late 70's and early 80's era's.

The following tracks are all performed at 'my' gigs. I change the running order (and my suit) every gig. Some tracks are more popular than others but the session will hopefully be dictated by the audience.

As well as all the artists tunes sung by myself featured here, a night consists of D.J'ed original material according to the crowds preference or left to me:

Of Blue beat, Rock steady, Trojan hits (to many to list). Loads more Punk from X-Ray Spex to Cockney Rejects, UK Subs, Sex Pistols, Tenpole Tudor for a few examples or more Mod classics from The Lambrettas, Merton Parkers, Secret Affair etc. and Ska Ska and more Ska!.
