BOURNEMOUTH PIER SOUL ON THE SEA 23rd JUNE

The rain was torrential most of the day, I had sold 20 tickets in advance and given out 2000 flyers. I thought I'd had a good idea months previously but as with all first time promotions I was worried numbers might be low, especially when 2 of the 8 people sat in the pier by 8.30 wanted a refund. They had seen live bands appearing tonite on my web site??? The DJ's were all in and it was nice to talk to Mike, Pete and Debs, Jonah and Butch a bit later.

Anyway a few started to float in and by 9.30 I thought hey this might be ok? By 10.30 I had reset my pacemaker to 'Safe' and watched everybody enjoying the music with talc flowing abundantly! Numbers were climbing and the final count including the harbour boat trip attendees was 180.

There were a few criticisms, on the flyer it mentions 'rare' and fair play to all the DJ's they kept it like that. Some of the crowd wanted it a bit more commercial and I think that was mixed in a bit later. The dance floor was now heaving and talking to people I hadn't seen for a while all were having a good time in this cracking venue. I was talking to the South West Soul Scene during the evening and it good to see a strong attendance from the local Renegade and Modrapheniac Scooter Clubs.

Unfortunately I lost my decent camera that day and my back up takes crap photos which I have added below: If anybody can send me some that would be very helpful, monitor this page I'll be adding more links from what the forums have to say about this night.

You know it makes sense for 'Bournemouth Pier all-nighter', watching the sun come up over the Isle of Wight while listening to the tunes and enjoying a full English to boot! Bournemouth red tape would probably stop that straight away but I will try my best to make it happen!
